Hi Friends! It’s been a while since I last bought makeup, and it was about time I refreshed my stash. I’ve been wanting to try Glossier products for years, and I finally made the leap to buy myself a few things for my birthday. For the past monthI’ve been trying out these products, and I do not regret my splurge!
Glossier is a beauty company that designs products with natural beauty in mind. They create makeup and skincare items based on what their customers wish for and go through the process of perfecting these products. I’ve heard reviews of Glossier products being easy to use, and perfect for quick application, everyday makeup.
MY HAUL:
Invisible Shield: Daily sunscreen + broad spectrum SPF35
Invisible sunscreens are a gift sent from the gods. As a girl who has always had darker skin, I was constantly using sunscreen that left me with a white layer on my face. It wasn’t until about a year ago when I heard of Supergoop! Invisible Sunscreen and got myself a sample of their matte formula. It was okay, but I didn’t know how good the coverage was (because it dissolved into my skin so fast) and I am not a fan of its initial smell.
Fast-forward to this summer trying Glossier’s Invisible Shield and WOW! I love this stuff. It applies like a moisturizer, so I can feel that my full face got the sunscreen on it, and in a minute it disappears leaving no white cast or oily feeling. I found that it goes perfectly with a gel moisturizer. I’m not left with an oily layer on my face, AND I’m getting SPF 35 coverage. The smell is a light citrusy smell, and it doesn’t linger for very long. This product is going in my “makeup staples” and I will rave about this product to everyone!
If you’re looking for minimal coverage in your everyday makeup look to blur your skin’s ‘imperfections’, then I’d suggest trying the Stretch Concealer. It comes in a little tub container, which makes it easy for a quick application with your fingers to dab on the face. This coverage is very sheer and just enough to cover light scarring and redness. I am currently trying to work on my acne scarring and discoloration in my face, so I need a little more “oomph” in my coverage products for now. When I get my acne and scarring under control, I will go back to this product and use it in my everyday makeup.
Glossier’s Perfecting Skin Tint is a great option for an everyday tinted moisturizer. The formula is a bit runny, but it goes on easily and is buildable. I found that you can apply this product directly with your fingers by rubbing it in like a moisturizer, or with a brush and sponge to evenly spread around your face. It provides a nice blurring effect and helps with the sunspot discoloration I have. When you first apply the product it has a dewy effect, but as it sets in (about 5 minutes) it creates a nice light coverage for a natural look. It doesn’t leave your skin too dewy or too matte, but I think it’s a perfect light glow. The Perfecting Skin Tint is nice for people who want some coverage, but don’t want it obvious that they’re wearing some makeup.
Universal Pro-Retinol: nightly renewing complex
Lately all the skincare trends have been so overwhelming to keep up with. With all the vitamins, serums, oils, washes, peels, and order of application that are being recommended throughout social media, I turned off my brain to those influences and decided to do my own research. I noticed that the acne that has been appearing on my face will swell up as a red bump like a pimple, not pop, then un-swell and leave a scar. It’s so frustrating. I’ve tried many things to get the acne scarring in check, and I think I may have been doing too much and taking in too many recommendations from what I see on Instagram.
I decided to stick with morning and nightly moisturizing, a face wash, and maybe one product as a night treatment. Within the first two days of trying out Glossier’s Pro-Retinol I saw a difference! In combination with my gel moisturizer, the Retinol has lightened the scarring on my face. I must plan when to use this retinol product because I heard that you need to stay out of the sun the day after using it. So, if I have a day out in the sun the next day, I won’t use the retinol that night. I plan to continue using Glossier’s Universal Pro-Retinol until the bottle runs out. So far, I like it a lot!
Cloud Paint: seamless cheek color in Dusk
The Cloud Paint was a product that I was very excited to try because it’s a multi-purpose blush! It comes in a tube so you can control if you just want a little dab of color on your cheeks, a swipe of color on your eyelids, or even a little tint on your lips. I chose the shade Dusk because I wasn’t ready to try a very red/pink blush, but a more natural one that suited my darker skin. So far, I really like it! Dusk gives me a little bit of color without it being the main focal point of my face. A little goes a long way, and I like that if you go overboard with the color, you can blend it out easily.
So far, I’ve been really liking the Glossier products that I got. The shipping was fast, and they also gave a sticker and sample cloud paint to try. I like the ease of their website and LOVE the fact that you can buy items in bundles. For someone like me who needs to re-teach myself what products to use together, I love that Glossier took the initiative to put together sets for their consumers. I bought the Invisible Shield sunscreen and Pro-Retinol as a bundle, as well as the Perfecting Skin Tint and Stretch Concealer. As I go through the makeup I have now, I plan on trying out more Glossier products in the future. Which Glossier products do you like to use? Which products should I try next?
Until next time…
