Hi Friends! How have your Decembers been so far? I haven’t really been in the holiday spirit lately, I have my wisdom teeth removal that I am absolutely dreading. That’s been putting a damper on my holiday cheer. However, I must admit that I put up some Christmas decorations on December 1st! With our small living space and limited storage, I wanted to decorate while not having a lot to pack away in January when we take these decorations down. Here is what I used to decorate my living room with a budget!
- Festive Tinsel: $5.99 or cheaper at Walmart
I draped a roll of green Christmas tree tinsel over the separating door in our living room and stuck it up with white painter’s tape. It came out cute! I plan on draping a “Merry Christmas” banner that I made below the tinsel too.
- Pack of 20 present bows: $3.99 at CVS
For the bows, I found a pack with various colors and stuck these all over a blank wall that we have in our living room. I think it looks colorfully festive and it brings me so much joy when I walk past it. I plan on sticking more bows on this wall if we have people over. It’s an easy DIY photo backdrop too!
- Extra wrapping paper from last year’s wrapping paper roll: $?
With the extra wrapping paper from last year, I decided to frame the different prints in the black photo frames to show a variety of texture and colors. I draped white tinsel along the frames to add a little bit of sparkle as well. The middle photo in the frame is one that I quickly doodled in Procreate on my iPad, and printed for $2.99 at my local CVS.
- Three 11×11 black frames: $19.99
These black frames are hung on my wall with Command strips, which is very convenient as a renter. It’ll leave no scratches or holes on the wall, and it allows me to interchange the photos on the inside of the frame a lot easier. I’m not sure if you’d count these frames as exclusive holiday décor, but I think it’s a nice touch to add some festive colors to your space!
- Target Christmas gnomes: $3.00
The Target dollar spot has been my go-to for cute home décor. When I saw these gnomes in November, I just knew that I had to get them for Christmas time!
- Wire lights from CVS: $4.99 (on sale)
These lights come in various shapes like snowflakes, colored lights, and even white lights, and the best part is that they are battery operated with a 6 hour timer. These can be for indoors and outdoors and I think it adds a nice bit of light in doorways or along stair rails. I had to grab a couple!
I also bought some decorations from TJ Maxx and a Sand + Fog Winter Pine candle that I light pretty often. The smell of pine fills my living room quickly and I am transported to a winter wonderland. I’m not going to lie, I had to reel myself back on the decorations a little because of the limited storage space we have. However, I feel like the items that I did pick up can either be reused next holiday season and won’t take up much space. What did you use to decorate this holiday season? Until next time…
