Hi Friends! I hope you all had a nice holiday season and welcomed in 2022 strong! 2021 was a whirlwind of emotions for me. It was filled with many great accomplishments and milestones in my life, yet at the end of it I was left feeling “meh” about the year. What’s up with that?! I honestly think part of it was the stress of trying to keep up with a “blogmas”.
As you may have noticed, I was no where close to finishing my blogmas series. It was very ambitious of me to attempt to post every day until Christmas (except Sundays), whereas my normal posting schedule was “whenever I felt like it”. However, this trial has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of blogging. It was a little test for me to see how much time (and honestly effort) it took out of me to consistently blog. Let’s just say that realistically I can do 2 posts a week with lots of planning. I didn’t even have the energy to promote my posts on my personal Instagram! Shoutout to my friends and family who kept up with my blogmas posts and are so supportive of me and my blog. I love you guys!
After this trial, I give so many more props to the daily bloggers, daily posts, and daily videos that so many people are able to accomplish. Not only do they come up with the content idea and create it, there’s so much behind-the-scenes that goes on before you even click on the link or read the post itself. There’s the promotion, shoot/creation planning, media planning, editing, concept, branding, and of course the actual act of creating the content. It definitely brought my attention to the appreciation behind what I consume on the internet, and consuming what is wholesome and aligns with my values. I’m not sure that I consider myself a “content creator”, but I can definitely see the effort and hard work that gets put forth in most of what I consume.
So to wrap up my final blogmas post (I guess), I’d like to put it out there that this sh*t is not easy. It takes so much work and effort. I ended my blogmas series by taking my own advice and “giving myself grace”. I took on a huge feat and accomplished something. Even if it wasn’t what I fully intended, the fact that I tried and actually followed through with a part of what I set out to do, is a big step for me. I’m usually all ideas, and little to no follow-through. My ten days of blogmas wasn’t a total fail, and I learned something from my experience.
I will be taking my own advice of “giving myself grace” going into the new year. My 2021 was filled with good health to myself and those I hold closest to me, a trip, a job promotion, more time at my second job (which I missed so much), a certificate in UX/UI design, moved out of my parent’s house, learned some life skills, got back into cooking and baking, and got to spend quality time with those I love. I hope to become one of the best versions of myself this year and really go in on my goals – focusing on the lifestyle systems I put in place. Happy New Year, everyone! I wish you all the best of luck this year. Until next time…
